Klang Velley Mass Rapit Transit (KVMRT) underground TBM works

The underground 9.5km stretch of the MRT Sungai Buloh to Kajang Line traverses the city centre of Kuala Lumpur.
Two types of TBMs are being used: Earth Pressure(EPB) machines for sedimentary rock formations and Variable Density TBMs (specially developed jointly by world-renowned manufacturer Herrenknecht AG of Germany and MMC Gamuda joint venture) for limestone formations.
