Terzo valico dei Giovi is a new high-speed railway that will improve the connection between the port of Genova with the main railway lines in northern Italy and the rest of Europe.
The work is part of the Rhine-Alps corridor, which is one of the strategic trans-European transport network corridors (TEN-T core network) that connects the most industrial regions of Europe.
The work will transfer traffic from road to rail (alternatively ' from trucks to rail '), with benefits for the environment, safety and social issues.
